I Have a Hard Time Seeing Spoonies Do This!
IMO this is massively disempowering Spoonie CEOs and it will impact your revenue.
Apologising.
Justifying.
Explaining.
Stop it, seriously.
A potential client asks you for something you have chosen not to offer in your business because you are putting your needs first.
I am sometimes asked me for my phone number so they can give me a call.
The answer is no. I don’t do phone calls.
Many Spoonie CEOs will apologise, justify and explain why they are saying no.
For instance…
“I’m sorry. I can’t use the phone because I’m 70% deaf. I need to see you to hear you so we’ll need to meet on Zoom. Is that ok?”
NO!
Seeing This kind of disempowered response from brilliant Spoonie CEOs and business owners makes me want to puke.
Imagine the CEO of McDonalds saying:
“I’m so sorry. We don’t serve sushi in here because we haven’t been taught how to roll it and I can’t touch raw fish because it brings me out in hives. I can only offer you a burger and fries, is that ok?
Yes, anyone going into MaccyD’s would know they don’t sell sushi.
BUT we know this because they told us.
The CEO of McD ruled that there will be no sushi sold there.
And that’s the way it is, right?
YOU are the CEO who decides how YOUR business runs!
And your ideal clients will be absolutely fine with whatever you decide.
YOU are the asset in your business.
99% of your potential customers won’t give a shit how you operate your business.
They just want your help.
YOU are the prize for your ideal clients.
Your content will have shown them your genius.
Your connection with your audience will have shown them who you are.
Your overall brand is the embodiment of your values, beliefs and operating standards.
If anything, they’ll probably apologise for forgetting!
Embody the belief that you are the asset and prize - in all your Spoonie magic.
Next time a potential client asks for something you have chosen not to offer because you are prioritising your spoons, own it.
State it emphatically.
Embody your authority.
Zero apology in your words or your energy.
Swipe my reply to phone call invites and adapt the copy to use for your next response:
“Thanks for your message. I meet with potential clients on Zoom and I am available tomorrow at 3pm GMT or Tuesday at 11am GMT. Which one suits you best?”
Job done.
